This is a great item of history. Unfortunately the stein has been repaired but does have lots of great details, including the ranks (Gefveiter und Musketier) and the surnames of the soldiers of the unit. This stein is likely from the 4th Company of the 111th Infantry Regiment from Rastatt and named after Margrave Ludvig William who was the Margrave of Baden-Baden.
This unit went on to participate in the Ypres campaign in WWI. Part of the bottom lithograph is missing --please see the photos. About 10 1/2" tall and is marked "0.5 L. See pictures for all details. This item is in the category "Collectibles\Breweriana, Beer\Drinkware, Steins\Lidded Steins\Germany".
