This is an Estate Fresh old Beer Stein or Tankard from a long time collector of antiquities. It is indeed quite old and quite heavy too. A big Flagon it is probably a 1.75 Liter mug and when its full you will definitely be doing arm curls!
It holds close to 8 cups of liquid which is why I figured a 1.75L size. It has a Hallmark on the bottom that I cannot ID, though it is pictured. It has an etched or engraved design to the front and the initials set inside that of EIM or ELM.
Its quite a masterful big piece and will make a great addition to any collection! Item condition description above and check out my photos so that you will know exactly what.
