The stein stands an impressive 13 tall. Reservist Kessler served in the 3rd Battery (1st Upper Alsatian) Field Artillery Nr. 15 in Strassburg from 1910 to 1912. Stein body is in good condition with vivid colors, but does have a small base chip.
The stein lid is also in good condition, but has a small pewter tear on the inside. Lid features a very detailed cannon crew and a seldom seen horse thumblift. The bottom features a lithophane image of a reservist and his wife/girlfriend.The stein's thumblift amazingly still has an intact stanhope image in the horse's eye. There is a small glass window, when you hold this up to your eye in the light, a photo image is visible! The image is that of a cathederal in Strassburg (see photos). Be careful if you choose to wash this stein as water will ruin this image. Stein is designed to resemble an artillery shell.
