Old Antique GERMAN MILITARY REGIMENTAL 1/2 L BEER STEIN Lithophane Prism Lid

  

Presented for your consideration is this antique German military beer stein. The 1/2 liter sized stein has brown and baby blue stripes around the top and bottom edges. The middle section of the stein shows a colorful military scene.

On the front is a crest framed with a half wreath and crossed flags and guns below the crest. Sitting at the top of the crossed guns is a German military helmet. Above the crest is a waterfront scene of the town of Ingolstadt.

To the left and right sides of the crest are scenes of soldiers coming home. German writing is along the bottom and top of each scene. There is also German writing along the top edge of the stein. Along the bottom edge is a name which appears to read Geftr.

The stein is completed with a pewter and prism lid and thumb pull. The thumb pull has an ornate design throughout. The top of the lid has a painted scene under a prismatic piece of glass.

This scene is of three soldiers gathered around a fire. The lid easily opens and closes. On the inside bottom is a lithophane of a soldier's portrait. Beautiful, intricate detailing is present throughout the stein and the colors are vibrant.

Enameled accenting is present throughout the scene on the outside of the stein. This neat beer stein would make a great addition to any military memorabilia or stein collection! Light staining is along the exterior of the handle. Slight paint wear and a small repair was made on the underside of the pewter lid.

Overall in VERY GOOD condition for its age. Please refer to the photos for the absolute best details. Measures 5" from the back of the handle to the front edge of the stein, 4" in diameter excluding the handle and 9 tall.
