This Mettlach Stein is 1/2 L (71/2 tall and 4 ½ wide). Etched and impeccably decorated with a tavern scene in relief and incised, in a combination of matte and glossy glazes, with a pewter and stoneware lid.

The detailed scene of three men enjoying a drink in pub a delicate emblem design as well as a delicate design on the lid. The pewter thumblift is a joker at the top of an ornate handle. Landesknechte shows feudal serfs used for military purposes by their masters.

These soldiers were often traded between Landowners- the equivalent of mercenaries with the difference being that they were not free to choose their employer. This Stein is in Mint condition.
