You are ordering this Mettlach, antique, German, 1/2 Liter capacity, beer stein with inlay lid. Mold number 2441, cataloged as Old German Drinkers Playing Dice. Artwork by famed Mettlach artist Fritz Quidenus. 8 tall to top of lid, weighs just over 3 pounds empty. Features a pair of well dressed men playing / gambling in what appears to be a tavern or pub environment, flanked by onlooking women.

Fancy, figural thumblift features the face and bust of a server girl in traditional clothing. Inlay lid features images of a pipe, herring, and radish, typical German accoutrements when drinking beer.

Plays beautifully and starts and stops as intended when seated/lifted off of a flat surface. This stein must be treated very carefully as the age of the music box makes it a fragile item Appears that the small screws that hold the alligator teeth of the music box have been replaced at some point in this steins history screw heads are contemporary, not antique.
