You are ordering this Villeroy and Boch, Mettlach, mold 1909, decoration 1073, antique, German made, 1/2 liter beer stein with fancy pewter lid and figural, eagle thumblift. Cataloged as Sunday Hunter with Saying. 7 1/8" tall with a wide 3 3/4" base diameter. Pewter lid, relief wording translates to, Train the eye and hand for the fatherland. A popular saying on German beer steins with a shooting, hunting, target reference.

This particular pewter lid has a blank space on a scroll, under a circular target and crossed rifles, that appears to have been meant for an engraved name. Presumably for the winner of a shooting contest.

PUG decoration saying translates to, Sunday morning in the woods comes the hunter, but weapon's thrust and rifle do not hit anything. (credit to the beer stein library).
