Infantry German Regimental beer stein Prism lid antique litho Munich

  
1/2L Pre-WW1 German Infantry Regimental Beer stein - prism lid displays infantrymen around a campfire, crowned lion thumblift and lithophane. This is an authentic and striking Pre WW1 regimental beer stein. The body is in excellent condition with just a couple small fleabites/chips on underside of base and the lid is mint overall. The lid is quite interesting in that, besides the crowned lion thumblift, there are three infantry man gathered in a camp with both a tent and raging campfire below the tremendous crystal prism!

Finally, the body has a lot going on. The central image displays a crowned crest with crossed bayonet rifles, a Pickelhaube helmet, canteen, sword and backpack. Then finally below that, Kgl.

There are 2 more scenes: one with a guard outside his guardhouse with a barracks in the background. And then the infantryman with his rifle stealing a kiss from the barmaid outside the tavern/inn. The stein is named to a Peter Wittman who served his three years from 1897 to 1899. Iconic and ever present phrases on this particular field artillery regimental stein (and translated to English). Es lebe hoch das Regiment Dafs sich stolz die Garde nennt!

" translates to "Long live the Regiment that proudly calls itself the guard. Behuet dich Gott, es waer so schoen gewesen!

May God watch over you - it could have been so beautiful! "Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit 1897-99" translates to In memory of my service time 1897-99. This is an exceedingly fine and detailed infantry regimental, with great color and presence.
