The decoration is made in a stylish manner of Jugendstil - the German version of Art Nouveau. The central figure of the enameled decoration is a figure of a woman in a red dress with a halo around her head colored in white and blue - the Bavarian colors.

The Bavarian Lion - the symbol of the state, - stands at her feet. She is holding a palette that symbolizes arts and at her feet stands a wool spinner symbolizing crafts.

There are views of the city of Munich on the background. Beautiful and elaborately made hand-painted over transfer outline. The lid is pewter with the relief image of Munich Child - the symbol of the city of Munich from as far as the 13th century.

The image is quite unusual - it was made for this specific stein. Gerz - one of the most prominent beer stein manufacturers around 1910s. Simon Peter Gerz formed the company that bears his name in 1857, beginning actual production of ceramic wares in 1862. It started with the saltglazed stoneware production, then turned into all kind of ceramics and became one of the major producers of beer steins. Excellent condition, no chips, cracks or repairs.
