Antique Large German Stoneware Beer Stein, Genre Scene in Relief, c1900

  

An antique c1900 Westerwald large German stoneware beer stein having figures in relief, wonderful serpent handle with multiple drinking/beer vessels impressed on each side. Hinged pewter lid with figural griffin thumblift and serpent handle.

The handle appears to be in the style of Westerwald. The banner appears to read "die riller lichen kech bruder". Demons in relief above the banner. Knights appear to be drinking at a table. Coat of arms with crossed swords on each side of the handle.
