Antique German Tall Wooden Beer Stein/Server w/Pyrography Munich Child c. Description: This very tall pouring beer stein is made of wood in a very traditional way the barrels or kegs were made. It is constructed of vertical wooden staves and bound by wicker hoops that hold the staves together. It is decorated using pyrography - a process of decorating wood with burn marks resulting from the controlled application of a heated object such as a poker. It is also known as pokerwork or wood burning. The decorations were also colored even though the colors are faded now. The front panel shows the Munich Child - the symbol of the city of Munich from 1200s. Underneath we can see a beer brewing barrel with hops and barley and the instruments of the brewer's trade. These symbols usually appear on the steins made as occupational for brewers. The wood is dried out and there is some minimal gaps in it. The paint is slightly worn. But overall it's in great condition with handle attached solidly and the lid fully functional. It is unusually tall standing at 19, 1.5L capacity.
