Character Beer Stein Funnel Man/Beer Brewer #622 by R. Description: This very unusual German beer stein belongs to the family of character steins - steins made in a shape of an object or person.

They are also called "figural". This particular one is made in a shape of a man with a barrel-like torso. His head forms the lid. He wears a funnel on the top of his head.

The funnel and the barrel are the tools associated with brewing - apparently, the man is a humorous portrait of a brewer (or maybe just a notorious beer drinker). He has a six-pointed star under each of his arms - this, actually, was not a Judaic symbol - this was a traditional German brewery symbol. The inscription on the front reads: "Frau ärgere mich nicht" - Woman, do not annoy me! The stein was manufactured by Reinhold Hanke around 1900.

Made of silicon-glazed hard pottery with incised, relief, and threaded relief decoration. The model number is 622. The stein is in excellent flawless condition.
