Antique German Bohemian Green Glass Beer Stein Enameled Munich Child c. Description: This beautiful crystal glass beer stein was made around late 1880s - early 1890s.

It is made of blown bottle glass with applied handle. The stein is decorated with hand-touched over transfer outline enameled beautiful picture of Munich Child or Munchener Kindl - the symbol of the city of Munich for many centuries. Created as the coat-of-arms or archival seal of Munich in 1239, the centrally depicted Münchner Kindl (Munich Child) has evolved from a hooded monk standing in front of Munichs gate to a charming child and symbol of the city. The inscription reads: "Andenken an Munchen" - "Memories of Munich".

The lid is pewter - a fantastic very ornate pewter cast with great thumblift in form of a gargoyle. The stein is in excellent condition. It stays 8 tall to the top of the finial, 0.3 L capacity.
