Antique 1800's hand painted porcelain glass pewter German lidded beer stein mug

  
Up for sale is a nice quality antique 19th century lidded German beer stein. The pewter lid has a wonderful convexed porcelain insert that is painted by hand with a lettering reading "Bum Geburststag".

The hinged lid is mounted to a thick mold blown glass mug and in nice used condition. It is also engraved by hand on the body reading "Georg Birkel".
