Another depicts and reads, In Battle. There is a scene that shows Bowtzen as a soldier and then in another scene he is arriving home after the war, Homecoming.
Between these two scenes a short paragraph reads, It gleams so friendly in the distance, my lovely fatherhouse. I was a soldier and loved being one.
But now my time of service is over. When you finish drinking a beer in this stein, you can hold the bottom toward the light and see a Lithophane. He is holding a stein in one hand and has his other hand on the shoulder of a woman with a basket. The flip open attached lid is metal that is painted a copper color.
There is a small chip in the paint on the lid and a crack (See pictures). Embossed on the lid are more scenes from the war. And, at the very top is a soldier holding a fallen comrade in his arms.
Condition: Considering how old this stein is, I would say that it is better than the average. There is a chip in the paint on the lid, and there is a crack in the lid. Size: 12 high, 4.5 wide at the base.
What I know is written above and I that is based on observation. I had the German writing on the stein translated. It is time this stein be in someones collection. The item "WORLD WAR I GERMAN BEER STEIN WITH A LITHOPHANE COMMEMORATING GARRISON BOWTZENS" is in sale since Thursday, March 28, 2019.
