Large Antique Jugendstil German Beer Stein Duemler/Breiden by Paul Wynand #1568 c. Description: Presented is large antique German beer stein/server from late 1920s - the end of the era of German version of Art Nouveau called in Germany "Jugendstil" and the beginning of Art Deco. Made of stoneware with beautiful brown glaze created to imitate the famous "Braun gefflammt" glaze by R. Merkelbach very popular at the time. Nice pewter lid with elegant thumblift. The design for this stein was made by Paul Wynand - the most prominent Jugendstil designer who designed many steins for Merkelbach and also did some work for Duemler and Breiden and other manufacturers.
