" and a fox on another platform, marked "Q. There are two large steins set on a double platform under the handle. "All' neun und Kranz beim Kegelspiel-Wer das nicht schiebt, der schiebt nicht viel". At the top, near the handle, the stein is marked, "1L". The lid is inlaid with a design, and the lid rim is trimmed with pewter metal.
The pewter thumblift has a tall rounded form. The base impressed mark is, "Mettlach VB Gesgesch 2959" with other marks and a faded green mark. This mark dates the stein -- 1885 - c. The stein has great color and form. SIZE: 10 inches high to the top of the thumblift x 5 3/4 inches wide from side to edge of handle.CONDITION: There is a very tiny nick on the center part of the top raised rim band (barely noticeable). The raised rim band near the bottom part of the handle has a speck of white pottery material with specks of gray color in this area. The lid edge show a minor ding.
