The stein The stein depicts what appears to be two German Landsknecht playing dice with a man watching on one side and a woman watching on the other. It is signed by Mettlach designer Fritz Quidenus.

The lid features in pottery etched inlay depicting a turnip and pipe, and the pewter thumb lift is in the form of a woman's bust. This stein body is larger than most 1/2L steins, closer in size to a 1L. The bottom of the stein features the Mettlach abbey mark and the date code of "01" for 1901. The stein measures approximately 9 tall to the top of the pewter thumb lift. There are no chips, cracks, or hairline, but there is a tiny nick out of the pewter inside rim around the lid inlay (see 7th photo).

For anyone collecting German beer steins or interested in German steins, I would highly recommend joining SCI, as you will receive publications and can communicate with members from all over the world about steins. There are also past publications online, where you can research steins through a number of scholarly articles.
