The inscription reads: Füllen u. Fill up and empty, never be without it. We don't know for sure who designed this particular stein but the patterns are commonly associated with Karl Goerig - a well-known and important Jugendstil designer who worked with Marzi and Remy, Reinhold Merkelbach, Merkelbach and Wick and some other prominent Jugendstil ceramics manufacturers. Made of pottery with gray glaze and cobalt-blue and dark-red decoration. The lid is inlaid with a ceramic inlay of the same patterns, creating a wonderful combination. The stein is in excellent condition. There is no damage whatsoever. It stays 6 tall to the top of the thumblift, 0.5L capacity.
Please note - I have a matching stein, so if you are interested in the pair, please let me know and maybe we can make a deal on two. Get images that make Supersized seem small.
