Antique German Theresienthal Brownish Green Glass Beer Stein w/Prunts c. Description: This beautiful antique beer stein was made of blown glass in around the late 1880s. The glass is colored in beautiful brownish-green, the shape is a traditional bulbous form with pedestal. The stein is decorated with prunts - applied decorative rosettes made of the same glass. It was made by the most famous Theresiental glass factory. The beaded prunts and the specific bottle-green/brownish color are the distinctive features of this factory's production. The Theresienthal factory established in 1836 in the town of Zwiesel in Bavaria. Another very common feature of the factory was hand-formed wavy pedestal you can see on the stein.
The lid is made of heavy cast pewter - a nice typical for 1880 with closed type 5-ring hinge. This type of lids was slowly replaced by cheaper ones in the late 1910s. Please note - the stein is 100 original from the period! I guarantee my description and dating. It is in excellent condition - there are some small bubbles in the glass see pics.
Due to the manual glass-blowing process. There is no damage or repair. The stein is 8 tall to the top of the thumblift, 0.5L capacity. Get Supersized Images & Free Image Hosting.
