Antique German Bohemian Biedermeier Glass Beer Stein Hand Blown and Enameled c. A classical German glass beer stein from the period of late Biedermeier 1820s - to 1850s.
Blown crystal glass slightly darkish, with applied thick handle scrolled. Wide pedestal with large pontil mark. Urn-shaped thumblift and large five-ring open type hinge - all typical for the late Biedermeier period. Hand-painted and decorated with beautiful enameled decorations using great skills - a true antique art object. The central pink ribbon is inscribed with gold - it's hard to see on the photograph - the gold has partially worn.
The lid is engraved with the intials C. That means the stein was made on or before this date - I guarantee my description and dating. Excellent flawless condition of the glass with some minimal age-related wear, the thumblift is somewhat dented (see pics), the lid itself has no issues and is sitting very tight. Nice very typical beer drinking vessel about 160 years old! 9.5 tall to the top of the thumblift, about 1 L capacity.
Condition: Glass excellent, thumblift dented. Get Supersized Images & Free Image Hosting.
