Antique Early German Glass Beer Stein Hand Blown Biedermeier circa 1820s. Description: This beautiful and very old beer stein was made of blown glass in about 1820s. The stein is very typical for the first half of the 1800s - the so-called Biedermeier period.
It features a large blown body and the ribbon type attached handle. There is a pontil mark on the bottom. Nice pewter lid in perfect condition with a hollow ball thumblift typical for late Biedermeier period of the 1820s.
The hollow balls were used for the thumblift from the early 1700s till mid-1800s. It is a good indication of the early stein.
The stein is in excellent condition. Please note - the stein is original from the period!I guarantee my description and dating. It is plain and simple and therefore relatively inexpensive. But it is still a very good example of early beer steins, showing all the technology and aesthetics of the Biedermeier period. The stein is standing 8.5 tall to the top of the thumblift, 0.5 L capacity. Get Supersized Images & Free Image Hosting. Attention Sellers - Get Templates Image Hosting, Scheduling at Auctiva.
