Antique Early German Glass Beer Stein - Blown and Molded circa 1830s. Description: This beautiful and very old beer stein was made of blown glass in about 1830s - 1840s. The stein is very typical for the first half of the 1800s with large blown body and the ribbon type attached handle. The lover part of the body seems to be blown into a mold to create vertical facets without cutting. Very unusual and rare technique. Later, in 1860s, mold-blown glass steins became more common only to be replaced by pressed glass. This one is shows the beginning of mold-blown technology. Nice pewter lid in perfect condition with a thumblift typical for late Biedermeier period of 1820 - 1830. The stein is in excellent condition.

Please note - the stein is original from the period! I guarantee my description and dating. The stein is large and impressive, standing 10 tall to the top of the thumblift, 1 1 L capacity. Get images that make Supersized seem small.
