Antique Early German Faience Beer Stein Erfurt Factory Shepherd Motif dat. Description: Presented is a very impressive and beautiful old German beer stein manufactured in the region of Thuringia - an old German state located in central Germany around mid- 1700s. More specifically, this stein was attributed to Erfurt, the capital of Thuringia. Made of faience with very colorful hand-painted decorations that traditionally are associated with Tueringen factories.Very nice stylized painting of the factory artist. The bottom of the stein is signed with his initial: "C". This is a well-known Erfurt artist, but unfortunately, we do not know his name. Nice pewter lid with a lip ring, a handle strap and a large hollow ball for the thumblift. It is engraved with initials F. The lid is in excellent condition. The stein was professionally restored - I don't know the depth of restoration, but it was done very well - it is hard to tell that it was restored. Don't miss a chance to own a beer stein that is about 250 years old beautifully painted - quite a rare occasion! It is 10 tall to the top of the thumblift, 1L capacity.
